Inaugural Procure Travel Africa Summit To Be Hosted in Cape Town

CAPE TOWN, 27 NOVEMBER 2019 – Procure Travel, a leader in independent travel procurement consulting, will be organising Africa's first independently owned and peer-led event for South African procurement professionals. The first edition of the Procure Travel Africa Summit will take place on Thursday, 27 August 2020 in Cape Town at The Vineyard Hotel.

South Africa’s most influential procurement leaders and difference makers will lead relevant and significant discussion topics, including best practices and insights around their approach to travel sourcing.

Gain valuable insights from this intimate networking environment, where you can engage with peers facing the same challenges in today’s travel landscape and leave equipped with the knowledge, tools and tactics to take you beyond cost savings.

Head of CIPS SA, Sarie Homan; Clicks Group Limited's Head of Procurement & Facilities, Wally Bouland; Regional Sales Manager for Europcar, Michelle de Freitas and FCTG GM Sales, Lloyd Barkhuizen have already confirmed their participation.

Michelle de Freitas says: I am hopeful that the event will enable the delegates to understand that travel procurement should not be treated as a commodity. When industry colleagues share experiences and best practices it allows for a conducive learning experience.”

In line with its objective of fostering innovation, the event seeks to reimagine travel procurement. Wally Bouland adds: “This forum will establish a much needed pathway

for us, as buyers, to look at information differently and, as a result, make more informed choices around our operations and suppliers.”

Refreshingly, says Lloyd Barkhuizen: “This event will be led by travel buyers and not the industry”. Sarie Homan gives full praise for this event as it “will provide a valuable platform in an African context to encourage collaboration and sharing between Procurement Practitioners and Solution Providers.”

Summit Director Riana Fouché agrees it is time to rethink the way we purchase business travel. “Travel is considered the second largest controllable expense within most organisations, and as new technologies and business models emerge, sustainability in procurement interactions is now seen as both a challenge and an opportunity. Taking a progressive approach by creating value through the empowerment and support of buyers and redesigning processes therefore becomes imperative”, she says.

Interested parties who submit their details on the website prior to online registration opening in Febraury 2020, will be offered a discount.
